i tried my luck at research before painting the piece…but came up empty handed….so I went to an on line appraisal company..FurnitureAppraisals.com ……..just to be sure I was not painting a piece like those you see on Antique Road Show…you know…the one’s worth $1,000 of dollars!! For a small fee i was told the following…
The sideboard you have is American made around the turn of the century. I do not know which company was the manufacturer.

Appraiser Tips: | You can refinish this piece if you like as the finish is no longer important to the integrity of the sideboard.

Research Sources: | I have used my personal experience buying and selling antique furniture for the past forty years.

Appraiser Comments: | This piece did have legs at one time. It is a high quality chest that was of the best construction. The carving is both hand done and applied and the brasses are of the best quality. Unfortunately the legs are gone and the finish is not intact. If complete, the piece would have great value. As it is presently, the fair market value is $425.00 |
the two colors together along with the wood top…it looked great–but it was not the exact look I was going for so…..the best the best thing about ASCP–just keep painting until you see the look you want..and you don’t have to wait HOURS to do so…..It really is perfect for us DIY’ers that do not have hours or days to wait between coats……

I don’t usually like chalk painted furniture but you’ve done a wonderful job. The color, knobs and the handwritten recipes in the drawer all serve to enhance this piece. The Well Done!
Love your piece! It turned out great and the way you lined the drawers makes it really special. I also love the different handles-nice touch. I am looking for Annie Sloan paint and when I googled a store near Peoria, your blog came up. Where did you purchase your paint? thanks!
Looks GREAT!! Thank you so much for your very sweet comment on my blog the other day…meant so much to me!

What a great transformation! And what a neat piece to find. Interesting that it used to have legs in the past. As I was looking at it, I wondered what it might look like if you found some little feet to put on the bottom just to lift it up a wee bit. some sort of bun feet, maybe? Love it!
Interesting info and good guidance on Modern Furniture…
Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add
to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
