A technique I enjoy using when finishing up a piece of furniture is distressing with sandpaper. My go to is 220 grit. Distressing in areas that normal wear would take place – around knobs, or the edges give this a natural – obtained over the years look…
To heighten the beauty during this process I use MMS Hemp Oil. This looks perfect when working with the darker colors in the paint line – like Typewriter or Artissimo…
To do this, I first apply my Hemp Oil with a regular paint brush and then working in small areas I go over the area with my sandpaper prior to wiping down the Hemp Oil. In the areas I would like to show wear I apply a bit more pressure…The outcome is one of my favorite looks… You can see the end result in the photo below….notice how the wood is showing through – looking like it took years to achieve this look…also notice the smooth finish this technique provides…… It looks natural and adds depth to our piece.
